The Omni Dallas Hotel is located in downtown Dallas. The hotel is connected to the Dallas Convention Center via sky bridge and is close to popular restaurants, shops and the Dallas Arts District. Local history is showcased throughout the 1,001 guest rooms, 30+ meeting spaces and 7 restaurants with pieces from local Dallas artists. Stunning views of downtown Dallas can be enjoyed from the terrace pool deck and fitness center.

JOB DESCRIPTION + QUALIFICATIONS
Description
Intern is responsible for assisting the bartenders at the Uptown Terrace Pool Bar & Grill, running food to guests and maintaining the cleanliness of the pool deck.
Specific duties include:

Keeping the bar stocked with liquor, syrups, cups and other necessary items before and during service hours

Preparing garnishes, refilling ice wells and restocking items

Ensuring food orders are correctly made and delivering them to guests around the pool

Coordinating with managers, bartenders and grill cook to ensure efficient service to guests

Pick up trash and towels around the pool deck and wipe down the bar to maintain a clean environment
In the Rotational Internship, an intern is able to rotate to different departments within the hotel such as: Front Desk, Sales and Marketing, Housekeeping, In-Room Dining, Banquets and Catering​ and the different restaurant outlets including Owner's Box, Cafe Herrera's and Texas Spice. When shadowing in these different departments, an intern will be able to shadow different associates and ask questions, help set up an event, tag along on a client site tour, learn more in-depth about hotel's operations and more!
Qualifications

Must be TABC and Food Handler's certified

Be able to work weekends, nights and holidays

Be able to walk, sit, stand, squat and lean in the course of daily business for extended periods of time

Be able to lift at least 25 lbs.

Be able to read and write in English proficiently

Have knowledge of the hotel, the restaurants on property and their respective menus

ACHIEVEMENTS
In the course of my internship, I achieved and learned many things. I became TABC and Food Handler's Certified. I gained experience as a hostess, food runner, barback and bartender. I learned how to diffuse difficult customer situations while remaining professional. I learned and became comfortable using the different operating systems including: Micros, OpenTable and BirchStreet. I was able to work as a cocktail waitress at a Sales and Marketing event held at the pool for potential hotel clients. I was able to meet and network with many senior company leaders at the Omni Dallas Hotel including: the Managing Director, Director of Sales & Marketing, Area Director of Human Resources, Director of Food & Beverage, Senior Convention Services Manager, Director of Engineering, Director of Sales, Marketing Manager and many more. I gained knowledge of the Omni Dallas Hotel and it's operations while also gaining knowledge of Omni Hotels & Resorts as a company.
